Pope Francis announced that the next congress will take place in Dublin 21-26 August 2018. Families from all around the world will travel to join Irish families at the 9th World Meeting of Families 2018Held every three years this is the world's largest Catholic gathering of families. Beginning with 1994, The Year of the Family, it has been hosted in Rome (1994); Rio de Janeiro (1997); Rome (2000); Manila (2003); Valencia (2006); Mexico City (2009); Milan (2012); Philadelphia (2015) and now, Dublin 2018.Pope Francis's visit to World Meeting of Families 2018 Ireland was announced on the 27th March 2018. It is already attracting 10,000 overseas pilgrims and 100,000's Irish pilgrims to a 5 day programme. Registrations are showing the attendance to be made up of young families, 25% of our registrations are under 18 and 34% are between 25 and 49 years old.This event will include a 3 day congress for over 30,000 people with 40 keynote speakers, 36 workshops, a 3 day youth programme and children's programme, a cultural evening for 75,000, large outdoor and indoor exhibition and many other small events around the country. The final Mass will be attended by hundreds of thousands of pilgrims on Sunday 25th August. Our venues will be RDS, Croke Park and Phoenix Park for the confirmed events. Over 8,000 Volunteers will be recruited and a pre event 12 month promotional and educational programme will be delivered. We are in early planning phase at the moment. The last time this event was held it was in Philadelphia.
