World Merit South Africa (WMRSA) is a youth-led registered Non-Profit Organization (Registration: 208-916NPO) funded in May 2017 driven by proactive youth that aims at contributing towards achieving 17 sustainable development goals by 2030. This is achieved through various community, environmental and youth development initiatives by creating awareness, ensuring accountability for progress of the SDGs and advocacy for sustainable development. WMRSA is part of a global network, World Merit, which has country councils in over 100 countries with WMRSA being one of the top 5 leading councils in terms of impact due to its organisational structure and governance beyond the normal voluntary council structure in many countries. Since 2017 May, World Merit South Africa has impacted many local communities in South Africa (more than 50 000 people- online and offline while reaching more than 120 million people through the global network) and represented in various local to international events and engagements aimed at creating local impact with global insight with scalable, measurable and sustainable youth-led projects and innovations.There are currently three teams (councils) in South Africa: National, Cape Town and Kimberley. Through more community projects, recruitment etc, more city councils will be launched in other major cities and communities with at least 3 per province as World Merit South Africa as an organisation believes in community-based and youth-led projects inorder to create and magnify sustainable impact as an organisation and create a world of merit locally, nationally, regionally and globally. The teams are made up of volunteering council members, ordinary volunteers based on projects and topics of their interest(s), in-kind partners and angel donors who support sustainable projects creating local impact. All positions and activities are voluntary driven by passion and commitment to serve the country and world as a whole.
