The World Sail For DiabetesOur mission is simple - We sail from port to port to educate people about diabetes and set up local support groups.DescriptionThe World Sail For DiabetesOur mission is simple - We sail from port to port educating people about both type 1 and 2 diabetes as well as setting up local support groups.Diabetes is the silent killer and effects every person in America. It is an epidemic and needs to be stopped.There are two types of diabetes 1 and 2. Type 2 diabetes is preventable and can be managed and even reversed through diet, weight loss and education. There is no cure for Type 1 Diabetes but with education, diet and insulin it can be managed. There are many different complication associated with Diabetes - kidney disease, heart disease and stroke, blindness, not to mention lower limb amputations. Diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death in the United States according to the CDC.Our goal is to educated people through out the United States about Diabetes. Set up local support programs for adult, children and parents. With education and support we can decrease the amount of people with Type 2 diabetes and find a cure for Type1.Right now we are one boat strong. Inshalla is a Vivacity 20 built in 1966 and sailed from the UK to NY in 1968, Inshalla is a twin keeled boat and very, very stable in big water. Her sail number is VY185 - If you see the boat take a picture and let us know.
