The main construction consists of solid copper conductors (cores), highly compressed magnesium oxide (MgO) insulation and a solid copper sheath. This unique construction gives melting points of 1083 degrees C (Copper) & 2800 degrees C (MgO). This provides fire survival whilst continuing to carry load for 3 hours @ 950 degrees C and for short periods of time in excess of 1000 degrees C.Mineral Insulated Copper Cables are considered non-ageing as copper and MgO will not deteriorate with age in most situations.
