Philanthropy - Dayton, Ohio, United States
Wright State Raiderthon is a philanthropic organization consisting of students at Wright State University which develops a tradition of giving. Raiderthon consists of a student executive board, an internal committee, and an external committee. Each student that is involved is not only working towards a great cause but is also gaining valuable real-world experience in management, planning, nonprofit leadership, organization, and more. Each year, Raiderthon programs multiple events culminating in the self-titled dance marathon. This is the largest and most-celebrated event that keep dancers on their feet for 15 hours, dancing for the kids who can't. The event concludes with the cumulative total of the amount of money that has been raised throughout the year for the Children's Miracle Network who, with the help of Raiderthon, then decides how the funds will be used for our local children's hospital. Raiderthon in its first year achieved and exceeded a tremendous goal of $50,000 and at the time was ranked 8th in the world for first-year CMNH programs. Raiderthon will continue its success developing student leaders, setting records with its philanthropy efforts, and, most importantly, dancing for the kids (FTK!).
