Carles ValverdeSculptor Solo exhibitions since 1986, mainly in Spain, Switzerland and Germany: Galería dels Angels (Barcelona, Spain), Fondation Louis-Moret (Martigny, Switzerland), Galerie Carmen Weber (Zug, Switzerland), Galerie Peter Zimmermann (Mannheim, Germany), Galería Pelaires (Palma de Mallorca, Spain). Since 1998, he regularly takes part in international art fairs throughout Europe (ARCO Madrid, Art Cologne, Art Frankfurt, Art Paris, Art Zurich, Art Bologne…)His monumental sculptures, whether made for the public or the private sector, are sometimes the result of collaborations with architects or designers, who are particularly sensitive to his work. The relationship existing between the work of art and the space in which it is placed is indeed a concern they share. His monumental interventions are almost always made on the premises and « custom-made », i.e. according to the space where the sculpture will take place.The materials he favours are, on one side, steel : the industrial profiles he uses for his sculptures are diverted from their original function to reveal their instrinsic poetry. On the other side, lead, which he often uses as a base for his « collages ». Indeed, beside his sculputres, he also creates works in two dimensions, collages of different materials, such as papier, emery-paper or painted canvass and lead, which are then passed under the press.His works are also part of numerous collections in Switzerland and other countries : Nestlé, UBS, Hoffmann-La Roche, Crédit Suisse, Fonds des arts plastiques de la Ville de Lausanne, Fonds cantonal de décoration et d'art visuel de l'Etat de Genève, Musée Jenisch (Vevey, Switzerland), the town of Terrassa in Spain and the Ars Fundum foundation (Madrid). Monumental installations in Lausanne (Switzerland), Terrassa and Majorca (Spain).
