Contemporary Abstract Artist Sara Conca is a self-taught, New York-based artist Native American and French Italian descent.Conca credits her family's tendency to relocate several times per year during her childhood in Florida with inspiring her appreciation for ever-changing environments and settings. By the age of 17, she left America and was living and working in Paris; an experience that reinforced her need for movement, energy, and art. While in Paris, Ms. Conca studied sculpture at Ateliers D'Art De St Maur Des Fosses; an education that she continued when she returned to her home in Florida and assisted the critically lauded outsider artist Pervis Young. She later traveled to Canada from New York where she worked with word renoun painter Graham Gillmore.Throughout the past 18 years in Manhattan, she has experimented with a diverse variety of art mediums, yet her painting and sculpture practices have remained consistent. She brings a strong, emotive visual and skilled fluency within the forms of her abstract expressionism.Conca has sold her work to many collectors in Europe, Asia, and the United States, including private chateaus and hotel lobbies in France as well as many celebrities homes.Conca now lives and creates in South Florida.Artist's StatementMy work is intended to instantaneously immerse the viewer into the visualAnd emotional energies that I have devoted to each piece. Depending onone's ability and willingness to be guided by the senses, these paintingscan lead one away from the mind and into an alternate and self-madeReality filled with color and feeling. My Works features gold. I love working with this color because it changes in the light and I can manipulate the textures and layering; thus affording each piece movementAnd energy from the reflecting and refracting light. Gold to me is Solar and Earthly which keeps the integrity of my structures in order in each piece.
