Xavier Institute of Communications (XIC) is a professional media centre established and run by the Mumbai Jesuits. For almost half a millennium the Jesuits have run institutions of higher education all over the world, stressing values of professional innovation, holistic education and leadership training.In 2019, XIC completed 50 years of offering a variety of training programmes in the field of communication. Today, XIC is an autonomous curricula unit of St. Xavier's College. It is managed by the Bombay St. Xavier's College Society Trust, which governs St. Xavier's College, Xavier Institute of Communications, Xavier Institute of Management and Research (XIMR) and various other research institutes such as the Heras Institute of Indian History and Culture, the Caius Laboratory and the Blatter Herbarium.Xavier Institute of Communications has a campus in St. Xavier's College as well as in St. Xavier's High School nearby. The Institute was set up in 1969 to foster professionalism and research in the world of media education. Today it ranks among the best non-governmental media centres in South Asia.More than 280 students enroll each year in courses such as - Journalism & Mass Communication (JR)- Advertising & Marketing Communication (AM)- Public Relations & Corporate Communication (PR)- Film, TV & Digital Video Production (FT)- Advanced Integrated Communications Programme (AICP) And most recently, Event Planning & Experiential Marketing (EPEM).A variety of specialized, short-term certificate courses are also offered to professionals - Announcing, Broadcasting, Compering, Dubbing and E Book Narration (ABCDE)- Branding- Business Communication & Personality Development- Conversational English- Creative Writing- Photography- Public Speaking and Personality Enhancement- Radio Jockey- Workshop in Graphic Design
