Xeroshield's business model is to develop novel solutions to insect pest problems, whether related to agriculture or the transmission of disease, which offer alternatives to the use of conventional chemical insecticides. Ideas are drawn from the founder's extensive experience of entomological research, as well as observations from a wide range of sources. They usually involve working with academics and/or entrepreneurs with a variety of expertise, often unrelated to entomology or even biomedical science in general. The ideas are developed into proof-of-concept studies which may be funded from the public or private sector. IP is generated and licensed or sold to interested commercial partners, who may involve Xeroshield in further development of the product concerned, hire its personnel on a consultancy basis, or decide to proceed alone after signing the agreement. Xeroshield is therefore not involved in manufacturing, marketing or distribution of the finished product(s). Our ethos is to provide novel, sustainable and environmentally friendly technologies that can be used by the widest range of individuals with the minimum of training and safety equipment, in the widest possible range of settings. Because they do not involve harmful chemicals, genetically manipulated organisms or other factors that could potential generate further collateral problems, all of our technologies have short development times, low costs and can be introduced onto the market very quickly.
