Planet Rakshak works to protect the environment by reducing, recycle and reusing electronics waste especially desktop computers, laptops, and cellphones. Encouraging electronic users to take initiative to dispose of their e-waste at the designated places and save the planet from e-waste dump.Problem: What happens, when an electronic device becomes old or breaks? Absolutely it becomes e-waste, right? India is the 5th largest electronics waste generator country in the world. Almost 85 percent of the electronics waste ends up in landfills, which produces harmful toxic chemicals that are highly dangerous for the environment and the human body. As technology and gadgets keeps changing, people are ever more addicted towards these. This issue needs a solution. Our intervention: We have an open-source website in that anybody can donate their old/used/working and non-working gadgets especially computer, laptop, tab, and cell phones. There would be two users interface one, youth/students from the underprivileged community can register themselves on our website who cannot afford a computer to learn. We want to create a responsible community where electronic users are taking initiative to protect our environment and care for each other in sharing their used electronic product to the marginalized youth and students who are in need. Maximizing the life cycle of electronic devices, slowing down the electronics waste by ending the unnecessary need for electronic gadgets. Contributing the used gadgets to the needy students for digital learnings.Mission: Creating an online platform for everyone, where people are taking ownership to give their device to students who cannot afford it. Vision: - To see a world where every electronic user is responsible and accountable to dispose of their electronics waste at the designated place, and protect our environment from e-waste dump.
