Yarra Swim Co is a Melbourne-based non-profit organisation that wants to revive the historic ‘Race to Prince's Bridge'.The revival of the Race to Prince's Bridge by Yarra Swim Co will act to honour a forgotten chapter of Melbourne's past, restore a historically significant Melbourne tradition, and showcase the Yarra River's potential to be a major infrastructural and cultural asset to the City of Melbourne.Yarra Swim Co (YSC) is also hoping to raise awareness for the ecological health of the Yarra River through the revival of the Race to Prince's Bridge, and to generate public support for cleaning up the Yarra River. YSC wants to promote a renewed love for the Yarra River within Melbourne, and reinstate a sense of public pride in the Yarra. Melburnians should understand why the Yarra River is polluted and how it can become clean again.Hundreds of thousands of Melburnians were known to line the banks of the Yarra River to cheer on high-profile competitors, notably Ivan Stedman and Frank Beaurepaire, who swam in the 1930s and 40s.
