Political Organization - Fort Collins, Colorado, United States
We are a group of concerned citizens who filed with the City Clerk's office to form an issue committee to support the City's broadband ballot issue in the November 2017 election. The broadband that already exists in Fort Collins is slow, unreliable, expensive, not available everywhere, and very near a technological dead end. In addition, the incumbent providers offer horrible customer service, track your browsing history to sell you products through their ad networks, and are heavily biased toward their own services rather than the services of your own choosing. We believe the city can offer an affordable, faster, and more reliable product with superior customer service that covers the entire city all while respecting your digital privacy and adhering to the principles of net neutrality. The fiber optic technology that will be used is future-proof.Demand for an alternate choice to the two major incumbents is strong—in 2015, 83% (that's 25,000 residents) of voters voted to opt out of the state law restricting the ability of the city to provide telecommunication services. Now, it's time to vote YES to allow the city to offer those gigabit internet services.
