Yoga Gives is a community and a resource for those interested in being of service through yoga. Working together with non-profit partners focused on health, wellness and education, we produce yoga-related benefit classes and events that introduce a new audience to great causes, while also introducing the supporters of various non-profits to the practice and teachings of yoga. Its a win-win for both groups, resulting in shared interests in health and wellness, community building and activism around shared values.Yoga Gives has produced classes for national and community based organizations, including Oxfam, The Child Mind Institute, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Bent on Learning. The classes are a terrific fund-raising tool for organizations with small budgets, since the studios donate their space and teachers donate their time. Additionally, the depth and breadth of the Yoga Gives community increases awareness of a non-profit's mission without having to incur PR services or fees. Yoga Gives has been mentioned on Bloomberg.com, Hamptons Magazine, The New York Post and other websites and magazines. Yoga Gives is the brainchild of Amanda Taylor, a yoga teacher, mother, activist and journalist. Amanda is a graduate of Georgetown University and has a Master's in Journalism from Columbia. Prior to founding Yoga Gives, Amanda was a television journalist in San Francisco and in New York, where she worked at ABC News. Today she is a featured columnist on Yoganonymous.com and the creator of a popular YouTube Channel, NYC Yoga Chick, that covers the yoga scene in New York. She also writes for national magazines like Fit Pregnancy and Origin. Her volunteer work includes serving on the Administrative Board of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and on The Board of Directors of Studio in a School.
