Young Athletes of Montreal (YAM) is a non-profit organization that seek to offer their services mainly to schools in low income neighbourhood by promoting excellence through sports. Promoting the importance of a healthy lifestyles "healthy mind in a healthy body" is the organization priority. YAM aims to defend and promote the interests of youth in Montreal by raising their awareness on issues that concern them, the benefits of amateur sport and cooperation to succeed.Belonging or representing a team can allow these kids, often left to their own devices, to rely on a role model and to develop their personal, academic and social skills. The non-profit organization seeks to provide support for those children who need a significant presence in their lives.The Young Athletes of Montreal organization aims to promote education by setting up seminars in a public high school to make young people aware of the benefits of amateur sport and help each other succeed.The organization plans to promote education by offering recognition awards to students from high schools to encourage academic excellence. YAM plans to provide books, materials and teaching aids to students attending the various targeted secondary schools.
