The Club is aimed at university students and young professionals who wish to start an investment portfolio at a young age. The Club's investment philosophy is as follows: An investment in Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) will be made by way of a monthly debit order via an online platform called etfSA (www.etfsa.co.za). This enables real-time tracking of investments and is more cost-effective than buying direct stocks The benefits of ETFs over direct share purchases, according to Mike Brown of etfSA, are: • They provide entire portfolios of index shares • They are less risky/volatile than investment in single stocks •The discounted brokerage rates and competitive administration fees offered by etfSA make it one of the lowest cost options available. • Switches (if investment strategy changes); new inflows of cash from fresh members; partial sales to accommodate members who leave the Club; recurring (debit) order investments are all catered for, making etfSA one of the most flexible options available. The bigger the pool of funds, the greater the potential returns which makes an investment club the ideal vehicle for those who do not have the money to invest all at once but wish to see returns. This is a long-term investment and investors can expect to receive a report every six months on the growth of their investment.
