Education Management - London, England, United Kingdom
Young Social Enterprise (YSE) is a competition for school-students, aged 15-18, who form groups of 2-5 and are tasked to design their own sustainable project in response to a case study scenario that represents challenges in rural Ghana. Our aim for YSE is to engage students in the broad subject of global social responsibility. Ultimately, we want students to realise it is our human obligation to pursue justice and to play our part in the international response against poverty in all its forms everywhere. By proactively participating in this competition, we envisage a group of students each year who become more aware of challenges faced in areas of absolute poverty, and ways to combat these challenges. This will enable them to spark important conversations at university and the workplace, normalising the importance of social responsibility as an integral part of our identity. In our first year (2020-2021) we had over 50 participants from across 10 different schools take part. We've also managed to gain backing from a range of incredible partners. We've been endorsed by the Office of the Chief Rabbi and receive strong support from Tzedek, a charity within sustainable international development. We've been accepted onto The Blue Thread Big Ideas Fund and The NextGen Incubator (a project of the World Jewish Congress and World Union of Jewish Students), two funds awarding us extra resources and legitimacy to help us grow and develop. Send us a PM if you or anyone you know are in years 10 - 13 and are interested in competing in 2022!
