Primary/secondary Education - Tulsa, Oklahoma, United States
Our mission is to provide expanded learning opportunities that develop character, instill values, and equip youth for success. We serve youth ages 5-18 living in under-resourced neighborhoods and attending under-resourced schools in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Youth At Heart's After-School and Summer Enrichment Program provides a safe, academic engaging space that takes a whole-child approach. The program combines academics, expanded learning, enrichment activities, and sports to provide an array of opportunities for enhanced youth development including S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, arts and math), tutoring, mentoring, individual and team sports, health and nutrition, summer camp and field trips exposing them to life outside their neighborhood. During the school year, programming is provided between the hours of 3-6 p.m., when risky behaviors spike. During summer months, programming is extended through the hours the children would normally be attending school to prevent the loss of academic progress and to alleviate the stress on families to find adequate childcare when school is not in session. Youth At Heart also provides nutritious meals and transportation at no cost to the families.
