YID is a for-purpose, youth led, charitable organization, a Global Grassroots Leadership Movement empowering youth of African descent in the socio-economic development of their local communities.In the Diaspora, we are empowering young people of African descent to obtain the necessary resources to be represented in various sectors as leaders for decision making and to develop their local communities where they live. We're building up the leaders not only of tomorrow but of today who don't have a voice in decisions that impact their everyday life.On the continent, we're fighting against poverty and inadequate education by providing innovative, low cost, scaleable solutions in the areas of education in order to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.The African diaspora consists of the worldwide collection of communities descended from native sub-Saharan Africans or people from sub-Saharan Africa, predominantly in the Americas. The phrase African diaspora gradually entered common usage at the turn of the 21st century. The term diaspora originates from the Greek διασπορά (diaspora, literally "scattering") We are convinced that the youth of African Descent in the diaspora that have experienced the way of life in the Diaspora are extremely valuable to the development of their local communities and Africa and the Caribbean! With our knowledge, exposure, experience, and expertise we will be able to develop the diaspora and collaborate with youths living in Africa and the Caribbean to ultimately build a future of a more secure Africa and Caribbean.
