"YouTHeatre - America's mission is to create a nation-wide program using performance arts training for the nation's youth. We aspire to provide an arts experience to inform, to share insight into personal responsibility, to introduce the fascination involvement with the performing arts can bring, and to generate discerning audiences of the future. Our vision is to use the arts to inspire growth, to teach skills, and to inform. Our success will result in transformed individuals able to tackle any challenge and ready to become contributing citizens. Our goal is to encourage creativity and a love for the arts, not necessarily to develop professional artists. The program will replicate and expand the work pioneered by its predecessor, the California Youth Theatre. The new national enterprise will offer performing arts and technical theatrical training to youth between the ages of 12 and 21. The program will operate in three regions of the country, allowing young people the opportunity to use performing arts to enhance their literacy skills, to discover latent talents, to provide an appreciation for the arts, and to instill self-confidence that offers hope for their own future."
