Nonprofit Organization Management - Beaverton, Oregon, United States
During these confusing times, our team of youth wanted to help our community, specifically the African American community via the organization Self Enhancement. People are unsure how to navigate through the pandemic, and as such, we noticed it was negatively affecting so many families. We heard stories of how children were not receiving proper education because schools were closed and online classes were not readily available. These students deserve to have their education, and so we decided to host workshops for elementary school children whose education has been the most impacted by this pandemic. After noticing these students haven't been able to receive much instruction online or in the classroom, we wanted to help tutor them in various essential areas we have excelled in. For example: helping improve their math, vocabulary, creative writing, coding, and Spanish skills - all subjects we believe are important for elementary school children to learn. Furthermore, we have partnered with Self Enhancement, which is a foundation that helps underserved African American youth reach their full potential. We will be donating all funds in the form of school supplies, food, and money towards underprivileged African American students, so they are able to overcome all obstacles and learn. Finally, we want to encourage all interested students to sign up for the offered workshops, as we will be hosting them soon and all fees will be donated to Self Enhancement. Recently, we have also started a podcast, PDX Business Spotlight, which aims to spotlight local small businesses in the Portland/Beaverton area and support BIPOC small business owners! If you know a small business that would be interested, please contact us! Also, we are accepting donations at this time to give even more to Self Enhancement and help underprivileged families.
