YWCA Alaska is on a mission is to eliminate racism and empower women. We began in 1989 as the YWCA of Anchorage. In 2011, the YWCA of Anchorage expanded its geographical reach to include the remaining 584,450 square miles of the state to become YWCA Alaska. We are dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women, promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. We do this through four programs that work collaboratively to strengthen a person's ability to thrive in today's world; Women's Economic Empowerment builds an economic lifeline for women in all stages of life.Women's Wellness eradicates health disparities by increasing access to healthcare through education, screening, and barrier relief.Social Justice serves as a catalyst for racial & gender equity, peace, and justice by providing resources, dialogue, education, and opportunities for action.Women's Leadership honors and inspires women of all ages for demonstrating leadership and excellence in their professional and personal endeavors.YWCA Alaska is a member of YWCA USA, a women's membership movement that represents approximately 2 million women, girls and their families in the United States and 25 million women worldwide.
