Our humanitarian mission is a commitment to assist our community to attain its maximum potential of self reliance by providing prompt and free services that best address needs. Our goal is to enhance the opportunities of individuals in the attainment of their personal goals while supporting the continuing development of larger community initiatives. ZAM's Hope is open to all, regardless of religion, gender, ethnicity, disability, income, or sexual orientation.ZAM's Hope is the vision and creation of Zehra Quadri, a single mother who discovered first-hand the lack of services available to immigrant women in Chicago, especially on the north side. As she worked through the cultural stigma of divorce and struggled to make ends meet for herself and her two daughters, she also began planning how she would help others who were experiencing similar problems. At first, Zehra began offering emergency services from her home, using her own resources and supported by local donors. In August of 2000, ZAM's Hope was incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 not for profit. Since then, ZAM's Hope has expanded to serve men, women, and children from 7 different ethnic backgrounds. Eighty percent of immigrant individuals who receive services are Indian, Pakistani, Mexican, Nepalese, Former Yugoslavian, Somalian and Afghani families. Most reside in the neighborhoods of West Rogers Park and West Ridge.AwardsPresidential Volunteer Service Award – Gold Category President Barack ObamaSunday, Nov 24, 2013 Most prestigious Asian Humanitarian 2013 Award Asian Chronicle USA TV, Public Access Cable, Channels 19 & 35Sunday, Nov 24, 2013Community Excellence Award, "Iron Lady 2013"ZAM's Hope C R C, Chief Guest IL Secretary of State Jesse WhiteWe believe when persons have their immediate needs met, for example when they are not hungry, they can focus and progress and give back to their communities!
