Zandvliet High School, formerly known as Macassar Senior Secondary, No, 2 was born out of necessity. Macassar Senior Secondary, No. 1, was unable to accommodate the ever increasing educational needs of the Macassar community. On the 9th January 1989 the school opened its doors and due to an enthusiastic staff everything ran smoothly. Zandvliet High School like other schools would, however, bear the brunt of the retrenchment process which would lead to a decrease in staff numbers. Despite the hardships, the school persevered and maintained the high standards it had set for itself. Through its achievements on all levels it soon became clear that Zandvliet was destined for great heights. In the academic arena their first matriculants made them proud with a 95.5% pass rate. In 2018 Zandvliet High School's matric results was the best for a previously disadvantaged school within the Helderberg region. In the sports arena Zandvliet has obtained Provincial Colours each year in a variety of sport codes. Through the foresight of the staff the school realized the importance of computers in today society and in 1997 the school opened a "state of the art" computer center that inspired the admiration of all who attended the prestigious event. This achievement was made possible through the sponsorship of Polifin, Denel and Microsoft (SA). The school community was not the sole benefactor of the computer center; rather the benefits thereof touched the broader Helderberg community. Zandvliet is also part of the Safer Schools Project, which aspires to make schools free from gangsterism and other crimes and affords scholars peace of mind while they are developing their skills and potentials and contributes to a safer 'society by promoting crime prevention. Zandvliet! Indeed a school that serves its community in all aspects of life.
