Hospital & Health Care - Hargeisa, Woqooyi Galbeed, Somalia
Zayed Omar Healthcare, previously known as a Zayed Omar Pharmacy opened its doors in May 1991 to deliver excellent health care to low-income persons with limited or no medical services. Our facility began as the vision of two dedicated Nurse practitioners and administrator, Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Hashi who recognized that rising health care costs were driving poor individuals and families to use the emergency room for any acute health-related need. The resulting critical care fees were passed along to the consumer, resulting in higher overall medical costs that crippled the financial future of many patients. Of greater concern, the poor people had no means to access basic health care. Whether it was seasonal illness in a young adult, chronic ear infections in a child, Tonsillitis, Pneumonia, UTI's or diabetes in an elder adult, the poor were missing the routine care essential to long-term health. Effective 03/01/2016 the clinic was upgraded and open to accommodate new patients seeking primary medical care after several other doctors joined the Zayed Omar Clinic. Although the original expectation was that the need for our services would be a short-term solution, the demand for these services has only increased. Currently, we are the primary care provider to over 10,000 all Hargeisa residents, including the most deprived settlements and substandard houses, and poor patients
