Zoom Out Mycology is an LLC based in Southern Oregon of the United States. Found early in 2017, "zoom out" means to see the big picture encompassing sustainability. Bashira Muhammad, a young mycologist was inspired to start Zoom Out Mycology due to a guest lecture she attended while participating in the National Student Exchange program to Southern Oregon University from New Jersey. The guest speaker was Paul Stamets and the talk was about how mushrooms could save the planet based on his latest book Mycelium Running. Zoom Out Mycology exists to teach people about the mostly hidden fungi kingdom and provide living examples of how to incorporate fungi into their lives. We sell medicinal mushroom tea and multipurpose mushroom spawn that is typically used for growing edible or beneficial mushrooms. We also implement a week long youth summer camp at ScienceWorks museum for 8-12 year olds focused on mycology and sustainability. We envision a future where mycology is applied towards sustainable development locally and globally. Our short term objectives (5 years or less) include expanding our product line and partnering with additional science museums and universities.
