As a top 25 Boston Marathon qualifier marathons, GCM attracts participants from around the USA, Canada and many countries to Toledo, Ohio annually. First run in 1971, GCM remained a popular, yet small event until 2009 when it moved to the University of Toledo campus, added a Health and Wellness Expo and began actively promoting Northwest Ohio as a destination. The overall field has consistently grown since then, with current numbers in the 10,000 registrant range.
