As part of the rapidly increasing population and improved standard of living, excessive resource consumption and thus, the amount of generated waste is making life unsustainable. Most cellulose/wood-based products are discarded partly due to the manufacturing process or often after one-time use and this contributes towards waste production. At STER, we pursue collaborative concepts and create products for the circular economy by reclaiming and upcycling cellulose/wood waste. A "STER" (English stere) is a German word for a unit of volume in the original metric system equal to one cubic metre. STER is typically used for measuring large quantities of firewood or other cut wood, but in our case, wood waste. Every reclaimed and upcycled STER of wood waste ensures continuous CO2 capture and facilitates the United Nations Sustainability Goals by reducing waste, resource consumption, and accelerate the shift from a linear towards a circular carpentry.
