For more than 30 years, Mercy Flight Southeast has been "Arranging free flights so children and adults can have access to the far-from-home doctors that can save their lives."Children and adults are flown long distances for appointment-driven medical treatments and emergency organ transplants in the middle of the night. Their chronic conditions with rare diseases necessitate travel to healthcare that is not only hundreds of miles away, but often having to travel those distances repeatedly for weeks, months or even years at a time. One of our passengers has had over 300 operations before the age of 35! This can create a financial and medical burden on even the most prepared of families.Though regional in size, Mercy Flight Southeast serves communities in need locally. Our pilots pick up and drop off their passengers- in- need at the closest airport, often much closer than the nearest commercial airport. Across the 5-state region we have over 650 pilots, serving hundreds of local airports, who donate their aircraft, fuel, time, and expertise with dedication and compassion. Mercy Flight Southeast coordinates an average of 3,000 flights per year serving families in Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina..
