Woolchemy is an innovation ‘mother' company, formed with one goal in mind: to transform an abundant base material [wool] into something more valuable, using sustainable, environmental and ethical processes. Our focus is finding new applications for wool in non-traditional markets through continual research and development. We are heavily focused on using strong wool for healthcare products. Wool has many in-built smarts such as odor resistance and anti-bacterial properties that make it perfect for health products. Strong/course wool is abundant in all corners of the globe but it is considered a waste resource. Synthetic materials are damaging our environment and affecting the health of our people, wool can reverse these impacts.Our mission is: save the planet with wool, create healthier consumer products, pay fair price to everyone along the supply chain especially the wool grower. Led by two women founders, we created our neweZorb process, an eco-friendly wet treatment process that makes sheep wool ultra absorbent and super-hydrophilic. This works on wool blended fabric or garment as a post-treatment or it can be done at the loose fibre and yarn stages. The output is still 100% wool, we've just altered the molecular structure to be moisture loving. neweZorb wool absorbs from 1500% - 2500% its weight in moisture, compared to 30% for conventional wool. There is nothing else like it on the market. We launched neweFlex in August 2018. neweFlex is a thin wool composite textile that works to absorb moisture one way, distributes it throughout the textile and ensures moisture doesn't come back up again.
