The Macatawa Area Coordinating Council (MACC) is designated and established as an Inter-Municipality Study Committee and is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Holland/Zeeland area. An MPO is defined in Federal Transportation Legislation as the designated local decision-making body that is responsible for carrying out the metropolitan transportation planning process. An MPO must be designated for each urban area with a population of more than 50,000 people. The MACC coordinates transportation planning for the Holland/Zeeland urbanized area and watershed planning and management for the Macatawa Watershed.
