The Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance (WISTAX) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to public-policy research and citizen education about state and local government finances. The state's oldest and most respected private government-research organization, WISTAX has been promoting better government and an informed citizenry through its publications, public outreach, and school programs since 1932.WISTAX takes no government money. It does no lobbying or advocacy. It is not affiliated with any other state, national or local organization. Its work is funded through subscriptions and voluntary contributions from foundations, firms and individuals.WISTAX publishes:* www.wistax.org, the online portal to its extensive research* "The Wisconsin Taxpayer", a monthly 8-page magazine;* "Focus," a biweekly newsletter;* "SchoolFacts," an annual compilation of performance, demographic and cost data on every school district in Wisconsin;* "MunicipalFacts," an annual compilation of financial and demographic data for 243 Wisconsin cities and villages; * "Measuring Success: Benchmarks for a Competitive Wisconsin," the state's only annual report card; * "Room Taxes and Tourism Development," a periodic report summarizing how local governments collect and use state mandated room taxes; and* "The Framework of Your Wisconsin Government 2013-15", a 132-page civics textbook on state and local government in Wisconsin.
