ceo, business development manager and producer at Brave Wave Productions - , , Japan
Brave Wave Productions is a music label based in Japan, dedicated to exploring the interplay between videogames, music and nostalgia. This dual-natured label produces and publishes music albums, both solo and compilations, as well as composes music for videogames. It is run by Kuwait-based Mohammed Taher, with operating duties handled by Tokyo-based Alexander Aniel, plus special co-directing from Manami Matsumae (of Mega Man) and Keiji Yamagishi (of Ninja Gaiden). The label is famously known for bridging the gap between Western and Japanese creators, best evident in the videogame Shovel Knight (by Yacht Club Games), which Manami Matsumae contributed to, as well as the mega-hit World 1-2 album, which hosted a wide array of composers from all regions. Our list of artists include Grammy-nominee Austin Wintory (Journey), Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill), Saori Kobayashi (Panzer Dragoon), Eirik Suhrke (Spelunky), Video Game Orchestra (Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns) and many more. This marriage between Western and Eastern cultures is unique to our label and the foundation of our vision. As a company, we mainly release compilations and solo music albums. We also help game developers interact with musicians, and in the case of working with Japanese composers, we merge the waters by streamlining conversations (translations, hand-delivering documents, etc) between both parties.
