Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation is a national organization whose mission is to eliminate pediatric cancer and to provide hope and support to those who are touched by it. Founded in late 1992 by Kathleen Casey, CEO/Founder and her 8-year-old son, Barrett "Bear" Krupa, just prior to losing his battle with Wilms Tumor, a pediatric cancer; It was his inspiration that the organization was born. Bear Necessities carries out its mission through two unique programs; The Bear Hugs Program which offers patients comfort and courage through a customized experience, and the Bear Discoveries Program which awards grants to junior investigative and fellow researchers nationwide.
