Client Facilitator: sidewalker & Horse Handler at OT OuTdoors - El Cajon, California, United States
Occupational Therapy (OT) retrains the body and brain to function more easily and efficiently with the tasks of everyday life! An evaluation determines if a child's fine motor, gross motor, hand-eye, core strength and sensory processing skills are developmentally age appropriate. OT treatment helps close this gap. Establishing foundational skills ensures maximum independence and success during school, play and the routine tasks of daily living. Our mission is to provide state of the art occupational therapy services in a playful environment that is optimal for a child's learning. We analyze activities and break down the pieces so that tasks become an ideal balance of challenge and fun; this creates a moment in time when acquisition of a new skill and increased self-confidence occur. We feel that best practice is making sure that newly acquired skills transfer outside of the clinic and into a child's regular day. Building relationships with parents, teachers and other healthcare professionals is paramount to this process.Hippotherapy is an Occupational Therapy treatment that utilizes a horse to assist in facilitating core strength and movement patterns as part of a function-based intervention plan.
