Access Contemporary Music is a non-profit organization with the mission of bringing musical creativity to life every day. We do this through innovative commissioning projects like Composer Alive, digital media programs like our award-winning podcast Relevant Tones and video series Songs About Buildings and Moods and through our storefront music schools that teach musical creativity alongside note reading. We also produce Chicago's only classical music street festival in the Thirsty Ears Festival, the Sound of Silent Film Festival which features newly commissioned scores performed live to modern silent films and collaborative projects like an opera adaptation of the classic film La Jetée. We've worked with Open House New York, Open House Chicago and Doors Open Milwaukee to commission composers to write music inspired by buildings and then place musicians in the buildings to perform the music for guided tours. We regularly produce events in New York City, Chicago, Milwaukee and Mexico City.
