KTTC also operates the market's FOX affiliate, KXLT-TV FOX 47 (owned by SagamoreHill Broadcasting), through a shared services agreement. KTTC News produces 32 hours of local news broadcasts each week, including a daily one-hour primetime newscast on FOX 47. KTTC was the first television station in southern Minnesota to sign on the air in July 1953, known first as KROC-TV as a sister station to KROC Radio. In 1976, Quincy Newspapers, now known as Quincy Media, purchased the station from Southern Minnesota Broadcasting and changed the call letters to KTTC, meaning "Total Tri-State Coverage" referencing the station's broad coverage area ranging from southeastern Minnesota to northern Iowa to parts of western Wisconsin. Even in current modern times, KTTC's significant viewership extends beyond Nielsen's defined Rochester designated market area to the north and east. With KTTC News' long-standing tradition of market leading news and weather coverage, the station has been honored with many Regional Upper Midwest Emmy Awards, Eric Sevareid Awards, and recognitions and awards from the Minnesota Broadcasters Association and Associated Press.
