Expert technique at Mediterranean Renewable Energy Centre - MEDREC - Tunis, Tunis, Tunisia
The Italian Ministry of the Environment, Land, and Sea (IMELS), ex Italian Ministry of the Environment and Territory, the Ministry of Industry ex Ministry for Industry and Energy of Tunisia, and the National Agency of Energy Conservation (ANME), signed on January 26, 2004 a Memorandum of Understanding for establishing, in the framework of the Type II Initiative launched by Italy at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, in Tunis a Centre for training, information dissemination, networking and development of pilot projects in the field of renewable energies named the Mediterranean Renewable Energy Centre (MEDREC).The mission of MEDREC is to develop regional competencies through the transfer of technologies, training of experts, and the dissemination of information in the field of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency. In particular, MEDREC activities are addressed to implement research and projects activities related to financing sources, capacity building with the development of regional competencies in the field of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, dissemination of information, development of pilot projects, transfer of technology in the field of Renewable Energies and implementation of Energy Efficiency of Renewable Energies systems.
