There are over 1,000 people homeless in Chatham County annually. Many of them find shelter each night, but more than 150 people are chronically homeless, moving in and out shelters over the course of a year. With the changing face of homelessness, over a third of the homeless population are women and children.Union Mission works to prevent and end homelessness one person at a time by providing a pathway to self-sufficiency and independent living. By going beyond shelter and utilizing supportive services such as employment training and mental health counseling, Union Mission works to address the root causes of homelessness in the greater Savannah area. Our four program areas are designed to meet the needs of different at-risk populations.
