Since the start of the pandemic in 2020, Seneca College has conducted 2 highly successful "hackathon" innovation contests. Our Covid19 Business Response Hackathon in 2020 had over 400 students and 80 submissions which helped small and mid-sized business response to the covid pandemic with innovations such as curbside pickup apps and covid-tracker apps.Our 2021 Digital Health Hackathon had over 600 attendees and 100 submissions and included broad ranges of submissions including vaccine passports, telehealth apps and IoT-based eldercare monitoring.Our next hackathon will be in March 2022 and broadly themed as Sustainability. It will dive deeper into themes of environmental, societal and economic sustainability as well as corporate social responsibility.
