One of the world's greatest untapped resources is the hundreds of millions of students who are passionate about the environment but lack the opportunity to engage in proactive change. This is a tragedy, because the businesses many of these students will found or join will either catalyse a paradigm shift towards restoring the harmony between humankind and planet earth, or perpetrate its irreversible degradation through carbon emissions. We believe that GEI's approach can transform a generation of enthusiastic eco-warriors into sober young professionals, ready to transform and lead the world of tomorrow. GEI addresses the quickly emerging needs of a varying group of stakeholders. For students and young professionals - it provides an outlet for their professional skills, training in key environmental fields, and access to a growing community of tomorrow's leaders and changemakers. For corporations - it maximises social impact and human capital development, connects them with exceptional young men and women. For governments - this is a way they can develop green hubs, bolster youth engagement, develop talent, and spur green economic growth in the aftermath of the covid-19 pandemic. The Institute's mission is to accelerate the transition to a resilient, regenerative, and climate-stable world, by creating a pan-generational compact between the leaders of today and of tomorrow, at the intersection of enterprise and the environment, with a view to rapidly scaling up the solutions we need. We will achieve this mission by mobilising an international youth movement in sustainability, and channelling that momentum into a think-and-do-tank that not only conducts cutting-edge research, but also translates it into real world impact through youth-led education and consultancy operations. We are on track to expand our community by several orders of magnitude in 2022; this daunting prospect is a validation of our the work we are setting out to do.
