We believe all children, adults and families need support to be successful. Our vision is a strong and healthy community with opportunities for all. Our mission is to empower people of all ages in our diverse community to achieve success – at home, at school, at work and in our community. On Jan 1, 2018 the Novato Youth Center (NYC) and Novato Human Needs Center (NHNC) merged and renamed to North Marin Community Services (NMCS) in order to provide more effective human services to youth, families, and adults. These nonprofits each provided 43+ years of faithful service to the community. We serve 6,000 people annually through an array of services delivered by 60 highly qualified staff and 400 dedicated volunteers. We provide educational, enrichment and support services at our two buildings and one satellite program in Novato. Families can utilize our childcare; after-school educational and enrichment programs; and family counseling service at 680 Wilson Avenue. At 1907 Novato Blvd, low-income adults, parents, immigrants and seniors can access our emergency food pantry, temporary rental assistance program; job-seeking, financial planning and immigration services; and one-to-one guidance from our case manager/advocates to help link people to essential community services. In the community, youth can access behavioral and reproductive health services at the Novato Teen Clinic, and in various locations volunteer Promotores conduct outreach and education, and provide peer support, to Novato's Spanish-speaking community.History: In 1976, the 680 Wilson Avenue building opened as the Novato Boys Club. After service growth and building expansion, in 1983 the Center renamed to Novato Youth Center and grew from serving 250 children to 2,700 youth and families annually. The Novato Human Needs Center was founded in 1972, and relocated to 1907 Novato Blvd in 1992. The Center grew from serving 50 families to 3,000 of Novato's low-income children, adults and seniors.
