President at Massachusetts Association of School Committees - Boston, Massachusetts, United States
MASC provides school leaders with services including professional development, workshops, education policy development, school superintendent search consulting and superintendent job postings, alerts and analysis of new education legislation, education advocacy, and many other resources. Through these and other programs, the Association provides guidance and expertise to Massachusetts school leaders in their increasingly complex governance roles. MASC also serves to communicate the school committee perspective to government, media, state and federal agencies and other associations related to K-12 education and MA public schools. MASC hosts the MA Council of School Attorneys, a group of legal professionals providing education services in Massachusetts, the MA Council of School Committee Administrative Personnel and several subcommittees on various areas of education, policy and school finance. MASC and the MA Superintendents Association collaboratively organize the MASC/MASS Annual Joint Conference each fall, the state's largest annual gathering of school leadership. Each spring, MASC hosts a legislative advocacy event known as Day on the Hill at the Massachusetts State House in Boston. Day on the Hill brings the state's school committee members, superintendents and student leaders to Beacon Hill to advocate on behalf of MA schools.
