Andreas M. Benzing, AIA LEED CPHC BPI, founding member of a.m.Benzing architects pllc, received a Master of Science in Architecture from the Bauhaus University Weimar (1998) and a Master of Design & Management from the Politecnico di Milano (1994). He studied architecture in the master classes of Giorgio Grassi at Politecnico di Milano, Adolf Krischanitz at Berlin University of the Arts, and Luiggi Snozzi at School Monte Carasso. Andreas practiced architecture with O.M. Ungers, Hans Kollhoff, and Ortner&Ortner in Berlin. Mr Benzing taught introduction to Architecture at Pratt Institute Manhattan, and is an adjunct professor at Parsons The New School.Andreas is licensed to practice architecture in New York State and in Germany, is a LEED Accredited Professional, Certified Passive House Consultant, and a Building Performance Institute Certified Building Analyst and Envelope Professional. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Architektenkammer Berlin, the International Passive House Association, and is a founding director of NY Passive House, a local non-profit dedicated to promoting the Passive House standard in the New York region. Andreas has been appointed by the Manhattan Borough President to serve on Manhattan's Community Board 5.
