The MBC was founded in 1993 by multi grammy award-winning singer/songwriter, Michael Bolton. The MBC is a non-profit organization that supports children and women at risk. Founded in 1993, the mission of The Michael Bolton Charities, Inc. is dedicated to two basic areas:1. The Assistance of Children and Women "At Risk; and, 2. Through education and effective programs, create social awareness to broaden horizons and expand opportunities for Youth across socioeconomic and multicultural lines.The MBC provides grants to non-profit, direct-service agencies that support children and women at risk of poverty, abuse, neglect and homelessness with an emphasis on domestic violence, mainly in Michael's home state of Connecticut. Grants requests are by invitation only. The MBC's current emphasis is on the creation of a Family Justice Center in Connecticut, based on the model in Brooklyn, New York. A Family Justice Center is a one-stop shopping center of support services for domestic violence victims and their families offering counseling, legal aid assistance, shelter, law enforcement assistance, interfaith counseling and a host of other services, by service providers on site.Since 1993, over $6 Million has been disbursed to organizations across the country. Sinai Sexual Assault Victims Intervention Program (NY); and The Children's Advocacy Center (NY).
