The Westwind Brass exists to broaden and enrich the musical legacy of local, national, and international audiences through performance and educational services, featuring brass instruments and music.As an ensemble, which seeks to foster appreciation of brass chamber music as a dynamic and exciting art form, the ensemble features music a varied selection of music from many countries and periods. Their repertoire ranges from medieval Europe to the American jazz era, showcasing American history of patriotic works. Westwind Brass strives to use dispel generic assumption that brass music is only about Sousa march and rag music. Quite the contrary, the ensemble creates contemporary brass music arrangements through special commissions and by premiering current American brass masters. Westwind Brass' programming includes brass chamber music concerts in museums, community centers, and churches libraries and performing arts venues. Educational programming, also considered part of our "core," provides musical enrichment to city schools and senior centers through lecture-demonstrations, workshops, master classes, and a summer brass workshop.
