Rail Maintenance Services Pty Ltd provides truck, plant and equipment for hire to rail civil infrastructure projects. From humble beginnings as Axiom Plant Hire in 1971, founder Peter Schembri began providing backhoes to replace sleepers for the Victorian railways. Peter foresaw that the future of rail maintenance and construction would rely increasingly on the use of heavy plant and machinery. He positioned the company to meet this growing need developing expertise in sleeper replacement and other track maintenance activities and growing the company fleet.In 2004, Rail Maintenance Services became the trading company with further investment in new machines and specialised attachments. Today, RMS offers an extensive fleet of earthmoving machinery and road rail vehicles (also known as Hi-Rail) for all types of rail work, from maintenance and renewal activities to construction. RMS also has a comprehensive catalogue of specialised rail attachments. With proven success in providing quality rail equipment and experienced operators and an enviable safety record, RMS is highly regarded and well established in the rail industry.
