Formed in 1904, the Association of Washington Business is Washington's oldest and largest statewide business association, and includes more than 8,000 members representing 700,000 employees. AWB serves as both the state's chamber of commerce & the manufacturing and technology association, and is one of two chambers in the country accredited with distinction by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. While its membership includes major employers like Boeing, Microsoft and Weyerhaeuser, 92 percent of AWB members employ fewer than 100 people. More than half of AWB's members employ fewer than 10. AWB has built a solid record of success in the legislative and regulatory arenas. Achievements include regulatory reform, tax incentives and reductions that help attract — and retain — business in WA state, and policy changes that encourage state agencies to become more efficient and customer-friendly. By working together with our members, AWB promotes an economic climate in which business & citizens are successful. AWB serves as the voice of WA employers, representing them in the legislative and regulatory decision making process. A large and diverse array of AWB members serve on the issue councils & committees that guide the association and set its policy goals. Over the years, the AWB membership has become one of the most effective and respected grassroots forces in the state. When the governor, Legislature, and state seek the input of business on policy matters, they turn to AWB.
