We believe data, harnessed in the right way, has the power to transform how people and organizations live and operate, and to impact the world for the greater good. With decades of collective experience in technology, government, and commercial markets, we've seen first-hand how difficult it is to make truly informed decisions backed by reliable information. In 2019, we looked at available technology and saw limitations in how products handled the increasing volume, variety, velocity, and veracity of data which was, at that time, already prevalent in the global data ecosystem. Out-of-the-box products were too limited in scope to handle specialized or curated datasets. Enterprise-grade solutions were too complex, expensive, and required too much to configure, implement, and maintain. As we looked ahead, we saw an increasing number of organizations—beyond just large enterprises who draw on an average of 400-1000 data sources daily1—relying on data to make informed decisions. We saw a global data ecosystem expected to see volumes grow by 10x by 2025, to over 150 zettabytes (ZBs) of availability. And we saw that approximately 80-90% of that data is unstructured4 and too difficult to consume. Considering that available technology had trouble meeting an organization's present-day data needs, we saw an opportunity to address their data needs of today while looking ahead to the needs of tomorrow. This is why we founded General Commission and set out on a mission to simplify access to and consumption of valuable data by accelerating data integration, transformation, and delivery for the modern digital age. Our software focuses on rapid, AI-enabled data fusion and delivery within an interoperable data ecosystem, and addresses complex data engineering challenges to achieve improved insights at scale.
