The Philadelphia Collaborative Teacher Center (PCTC) is a recently formed non-profit organization that is envisioned as a hub for innovation and change - catalyzing teacher creativity, nurturing and elevating the art and skill of excellent teaching, and providing teachers with physical places to develop working relationships, explore new ideas, and continually recharge. The Philadelphia Collaborative Teacher Center aims to create a citywide "community of teaching" that will support the work of teachers in public, public charter, and private schools. It will also serve as a key contributor to policy research and public discourse around pertinent issues concerning Philadelphia schools and teaching. THE MISSION The Philadelphia Collaborative Teacher Center (PCTC) aims to improve the quality of education across the City of Philadelphia and make teaching in the City more rewarding and more appealing by doing the following: Creating physical spaces designed to inspire, motivate, connect and support the work of teachers Providing teachers with increased opportunities to work collaboratively, share experiences, and develop networks of support Offering unique professional development opportunities and hosting and supporting high-quality professional development opportunities offered by public and private organizations and institutions Honoring the work of teachers, including their successful endeavors both inside and outside of the classroom Advocating on behalf of public and private efforts to support the teaching profession and quality of teaching
