Pairing passionately crafted nature tours with the conservation of local species such as the Asiatic black bear, our organisation aims to put nature in the spotlight and promote peaceful coexistence among people and wildlife in Japan.Through our guided nature tours in both Karuizawa and Shiretoko (Hokkaido), two areas of abundant wildlife and natural beauty, we hope to immerse people in the nature of Japan and show them the value of preserving it. Our tours also help to fund our conservation activities in Karuizawa. Since 1998, we have been working closely with the local town office to maintain a level of coexistence between people and bears. Our activities have involved innovative management techniques, such as collaring and monitoring individual bears and the use of bear dogs to track and deter bears, as well as community projects such as habitat restoration and resident education. We are involved in ongoing research relating to Asiatic black bear ecology and population dynamics on a national scale. Additionally, we are collecting our own behavioural observations and movement data.
